Colombian singer Shakira continues to cement her status as one of the most influential artists on the planet. On Nov. 3, the superstar was honored with the first Billboard Global Touring Icon Award during the Billboard Live Music Summit held in Los Angeles. With this recognition, Shakira becomes the first Latina artist to receive this distinction, created to honor performers with a significant and lasting impact on the global live entertainment scene.
The award was presented by Marty Hom, her tour manager and a key figure in the international music industry. Billboard highlighted Shakira for the overwhelming success of her “Las Mujeres Ya No Lloran World Tour,” which has become the highest-grossing Latin tour in history by a female artist, marking a turning point in the global music landscape.
Shakira receives the Billboard Global Touring Icon Award from Cali, Colombia
Although she did not attend the ceremony in Los Angeles, Shakira received the news while rehearsing for her concert in Cali, Colombia, a city she returned to after 20 years of absence. The artist shared her excitement and gratitude upon learning of the recognition, stating in a message: “I never thought, not even in my wildest dreams, that I would fill every stadium. It’s incredible and inspiring at the same time; I feel like I’m just beginning my career, and it’s crazy because it’s been 30 years. … This has been the best tour of my life — just as we dreamed it. We worked very hard, overcoming every obstacle. It wasn’t easy. We worked many, many hours to make it as good as the people deserve.”
Her performance in Cali was part of a series of unforgettable concerts in Colombia, where thousands of fans welcomed her with enthusiasm and nostalgia. The artist delivered a show full of energy, dance, and emotion, performing her greatest hits along with songs from her latest album, “Las Mujeres Ya No Lloran.”
The tour that continues to conquer South America
After her shows in Colombia, Shakira continues her “Las Mujeres Ya No Lloran World Tour” across South America, with upcoming performances at the Atahualpa Olympic Stadium in Quito, Ecuador (Nov. 8, 9, and 11); Lima, Peru (Nov. 15, 16, and 18); Julio Martinez Pradanos National Stadium in Santiago, Chile (Nov. 22); General Pablo Rojas Stadium in Asuncion, Paraguay (Nov. 28 and 29); and Centenario Stadium in Montevideo, Uruguay (Dec. 3 and 4).
The tour will conclude with three concerts at Velez Sarsfield Stadium in Buenos Aires, Argentina (Dec. 8, 9, and 11), followed by two final performances at the Hard Rock Cafe in Hollywood, Florida, U.S. (Dec. 27 and 28).
With this historic recognition and a tour that continues to break records, Shakira reinforces her legacy as the most influential Latin artist on the global stage, proving that, three decades after her debut, she remains an unstoppable force in the world of music.
