Disney Cruise Line has officially docked in Colombia — this time, on land. The entertainment giant announced the opening of its first physical offices in Bogota and Medellin, in partnership with the local travel agency Deluxe Travel, marking a significant step in its strategy to expand across Latin America and bring its cruise experiences closer to Colombian travelers.

According to Regina Ozuna, sales manager for Mexico and Colombia at Disney Cruise Line, the company had “been planning this move for years,” driven by the steady growth of Colombia’s outbound tourism market. The new offices will serve as exclusive points of contact for customers seeking personalized guidance on itineraries, cabin options, and onboard experiences aboard Disney’s fleet of family-oriented and luxury cruise ships.

“Colombians have shown increasing interest in premium travel experiences, and cruises are part of that evolution,” Ozuna said during the official announcement.

Disney Cruise Line opens offices in Colombia to strengthen its presence in Latin America

Colombia has become one of the fastest-growing sources of Latin American travelers to Disney’s destinations. According to Disney Destinations, the number of Colombian visitors to its parks and cruise ships is approaching pre-pandemic levels from 2019.

At the same time, the local cruise industry is thriving. Cartagena has solidified its position as one of the top cruise ports in the Caribbean, receiving major international lines every season. The establishment of Disney Cruise Line offices in Colombia not only underscores this momentum but also signals that the American company views the country as a strategic hub for future growth in the region.

This local presence will help streamline the booking process for Colombian clients who, until now, had to rely on international channels or third-party agencies to reserve their voyages. With dedicated offices and trained staff, travelers can now receive direct, in-person assistance in Spanish — something that aligns with Disney’s strategy of localizing its global experiences.

What the new offices offer

The Bogota and Medellin offices are designed to provide a complete Disney Cruise Line experience onshore. Customers can receive tailored advice on routes across the Caribbean, the Bahamas, Alaska, and Europe; access detailed information about themed cruises featuring Marvel or Star Wars experiences; and even learn about exclusive family and adults-only packages.

In addition, the offices will strengthen relationships with Colombian travel agencies and tour operators, offering them better tools, training, and support for marketing Disney cruises locally. This collaboration aims to boost both awareness and sales, enabling agents to better communicate what makes a Disney cruise unique: Its combination of high-end hospitality and world-class entertainment.

Why it matters for Colombian tourism

The arrival of Disney Cruise Line in Colombia has broader implications for the national tourism sector. Experts believe it could trigger a ripple effect in several areas:

  • Greater accessibility to premium cruise products for Colombian travelers.
  • Healthy competition among cruise lines, potentially improving service quality and price options.
  • Enhanced international visibility of Colombia as a trusted travel market for global brands.
  • Closer collaboration between Disney and the local tourism ecosystem, from agencies to port authorities.

Moreover, this move highlights how international companies increasingly see Colombia not just as a destination but as a source market of high-value travelers. In recent years, the country has seen steady growth in disposable income among middle- and upper-class families, as well as an appetite for experiential travel — factors that align perfectly with Disney’s positioning.

Challenges and opportunities ahead

Despite the enthusiasm surrounding the launch, Disney Cruise Line faces several challenges in its Colombian expansion. One of them is price perception: The brand is often associated with luxury, which could limit its reach to a smaller segment of consumers. To counter this, the company plans to emphasize the value of the experience — including world-class entertainment, top-tier hospitality, and the brand’s hallmark storytelling magic.

Another key challenge is consumer education. Many Colombian travelers are still unfamiliar with the logistics of cruise vacations, such as itinerary planning, visa requirements, and onboard activities. The new offices aim to bridge that gap by offering hands-on guidance and trustworthy local advice.

If successful, Disney Cruise Line could replicate this model in other Latin American markets, creating a network of localized offices across the region to deepen its reach and brand recognition.

A strategic move for Disney

The opening of Disney Cruise Line’s first offices in Colombia marks more than just a commercial expansion — it’s a symbolic investment in the country’s growing role in global tourism. As Disney strengthens its connections with Colombian travelers, it positions itself not only as a vacation provider but also as a long-term partner in the region’s tourism development.
