Colombia has once again stood out on the global stage thanks to a new recognition that highlights the warmth of its people. The country was ranked as the second friendliest in the world according to the Expat Insider Survey 2025, conducted by Seasia.stats, an international platform specializing in social and quality-of-life indicators.
The study evaluated thousands of foreign residents living in different countries, who rated aspects such as hospitality, ease of making friends, and citizens’ attitudes toward visitors.
This new recognition adds to a growing list of international mentions in recent years that have highlighted the friendliness of Colombians as one of the country’s most distinctive traits.
Colombia among the friendliest countries in the world
The Expat Insider Survey 2025 placed Colombia in second place globally thanks to the responses of expatriates and travelers who have found in the country an open, welcoming, and helpful culture. According to Seasia.stats, respondents emphasized that from the moment they arrived, they felt a friendly attitude that made it easier to integrate and navigate daily life in cities such as Bogota, Medellin, Cali, and Cartagena.
This recognition is not an isolated one. In 2022, Conde Nast Traveller also ranked Colombia as the second friendliest country in the world, highlighting its “colorful, bold, and sincere” culture. Other analyses, such as those by World Population Review, have noted that the combination of music, cuisine, history, and cultural diversity creates an ideal atmosphere for first-time visitors.
Traditional hospitality, present in both urban and rural areas, continues to stand out. From a warm greeting on the street to the willingness to help a stranger, friendliness appears in everyday gestures that leave a lasting positive impression on visitors.
The reasons behind the international perception
Colombia is recognized not only for its natural and cultural richness but also for the resilient spirit of its population. Despite historical and social challenges, the country has developed an identity marked by optimism, solidarity, and a strong sense of collective well-being.
Some of the factors that help explain this recognition include:
Vibrant culture: music, dance, festivals, and gastronomy convey energy, joy, and closeness.
Regional diversity: Each area of the country, from the Caribbean to the Amazon, offers different expressions of hospitality.
Growing tourism: Constant interaction with travelers has strengthened the nation’s friendly image around the world.
Positive attitude: Social resilience has helped cultivate a welcoming environment for newcomers.
Although these rankings are based on perceptions and individual experiences may vary, they reveal a clear trend: Colombia’s international image continues to improve, especially in tourism and overall quality of life for foreigners.
