Colombian players Luis Suarez, Luis Diaz, and Camilo Duran shone in the UEFA Champions League Game Week 7. Suarez and Duran were the star men for both of their teams in unlikely wins in Europe’s elite competition, while Diaz had a productive game for FC Bayern.
Luis Suarez scored twice against European Champions PSG and helped his team, Sporting CP, secure the three points against the French giants. Suarez scored the winner in the last minute of the game.
Camilo Duran also scored a brace for his team, Qarabag, who remarkably beat German side Eintracht Frankfurt in the Champions League. The Azerbaijani team secured the three points with another last-minute goal by Bahlul Mustafazde.
The Colombians are projected to make the Champions League Knockout stages
After their teams’ victory, Colombian Suarez, Diaz, and Duran are all expected to feature in the UEFA Champions League Knockout stages. Bayern and Arsenal are the only two teams that have confirmed their top 8 finish, which means they will not play the round of 32.
Luis Suarez’s Sporting still has a chance of making the top 8, as they are level in points with Atalanta, Atletico Madrid, and Man. City, Barcelona, Chelsea, Newcastle, and PSG, who are all in the mix for a finish in the best 8. They will face Athletic de Bilbao.

Meanwhile, Duran’s Qarabag is on the verge of making history by being the first Azerbaijani team to qualify for the Champions League Knockouts by qualifying to the round of 32. They will face English champions Liverpool F.C. at Anfield in the final match-day of the UCL group stage.
Colombian striker Luis Javier Suarez has been Sporting CP’s standout man this season. He has scored 15 goals and given 4 assists in 18 matches in the Portuguese league. The consensus amongst Colombian pundits and fans seems to be that Suarez is in pole position to be Colombia’s number 9 at this year’s FIFA World Cup.
