The third edition of Colombiamoda Miami will take place from May 27 to 29 in Wynwood with 35 Colombian brands and a clear strategy: turning presence in the United States into real business opportunities. Organized by Inexmoda during Swim Week Miami, the event strengthens its internationalization strategy in a market that accounts for 23.6% of global fashion consumption and records the highest per capita spending in the world: USD 1,004 per person annually.

The numbers from the previous year support the initiative. In 2025, the event brought together 20 brands, attracted more than 1,200 attendees, and generated direct sales of USD 140,000, with an additional USD 70,000 in projected business opportunities. For 2026, participation expands to 35 brands, adding categories such as resortwear, swimwear, bags & accessories, loungewear, and urbanwear in the “Colombian Selection” pop-up.

Colombiamoda Miami 2026: A market gap representing a multi-million-dollar opportunity

The U.S. market landscape reveals both the scale of the challenge and the opportunity. In 2024, the United States imported USD 83.7 billion in apparel, consolidating its position as the world’s largest buyer. Colombia accounted for USD 219 million, just 0.26% of that total. If Colombia managed to increase its share to 0.5%, exports would surpass USD 400 million, nearly double current levels.

Between January and November 2025, total Colombian fashion exports reached USD 836.7 million, a 2% increase compared to the same period in 2024, with projections from Analdex pointing toward exceeding USD 900 million by the end of the year. In addition, the Free Trade Agreement between Colombia and the United States allows most garments to be exported tariff-free, a competitive advantage that few industries enjoy through a trade agreement.

Within the export landscape, Antioquia led external sales in the fashion system, while Atlántico and Valle del Cauca recorded the fastest growth rates, with increases of 34.2% and 18.3%, respectively. Both regions will have direct representation at the Miami event.

Colombiamoda Miami: A business platform

Colombiamoda Miami was conceived as a commercial validation platform. The event integrates runway shows, showrooms, and brand experiences within the “Casa Colombiamoda” concept, featuring an agenda that includes the opening runway presentation by Cali-based designer Renata Lozano, in partnership with the Cali Chamber of Commerce, as well as networking sessions aimed at buyers, media, and opinion leaders.

The Cali Chamber of Commerce is bringing eight brands to the “Colombian Selection” pop-up, supporting a sector that generates more than 105,000 jobs annually in Valle del Cauca alone and exports over USD 100 million to strategic markets. Strategic allies such as FedEx, the Mayor’s Office of Medellín, the Medellín Chamber of Commerce Fashion Cluster, the Government of Risaralda, and other regional institutions are also participating, giving the event the character of a national platform.

For Sebastian Diez, Executive President of Inexmoda, the goal goes beyond immediate commerce: positioning Colombia as a fashion hub in Latin America capable of engaging with the world’s major fashion capitals, under the premise that cultural identity and designer fashion are real competitive advantages in a market where differentiation is the most valuable asset.
