American YouTuber MrBeast, whose real name is Jimmy Donaldson, once again captured global attention — this time not for one of his spectacular viral challenges, but for a large-scale humanitarian initiative. In January 2026, the content creator funded 1,000 surgeries in Kenya for people who, for years and even decades, had been unable to access medical treatment due to a lack of financial resources.

The effort was documented and shared through Beast Philanthropy, the influencer’s charitable channel, where stories are shown of patients who regained their health and, in many cases, their eyesight within minutes. Most of the procedures were cataract surgeries, although more complex operations were also performed, including thyroid procedures and other essential medical interventions that had been postponed indefinitely.

The initiative had an immediate impact on the beneficiaries’ quality of life, many of whom had lost job opportunities, independence, and overall well-being due to treatable health conditions.

MrBeast-funded surgeries that changed lives in minutes in Kenya

Cataracts, one of the leading causes of reversible blindness worldwide, were the central focus of the medical campaign. For hundreds of patients, the surgery meant seeing clearly again after years of limited or no vision. In several cases, older people who had been completely dependent on family members regained autonomy almost immediately.

In addition to ophthalmological procedures, the program included thyroid surgeries and other critical medical operations for patients who had been diagnosed but could not afford hospitalization, tests, and surgery. In contexts where health care systems face infrastructure and funding limitations, this type of external support can make the difference between living with a chronic condition and receiving timely treatment.

The model used combined funding for surgeries with the logistics needed to transport patients, ensure specialized medical care, and cover hospital costs. The initiative made it possible to address cases that had accumulated after years of waiting.

Philanthropy as part of his global brand

MrBeast is one of the most influential content creators in the world, with an audience that surpasses hundreds of millions of subscribers. In recent years, he has integrated philanthropy as a central part of his digital identity. Through Beast Philanthropy, he has supported projects ranging from massive tree-planting campaigns to ocean cleanups.

In the health field, the action in Kenya adds to other medical interventions funded by the YouTuber. In 2025, he supported the delivery of 2,000 leg prosthetics in various regions around the world, in collaboration with specialized organizations, allowing thousands of people to regain mobility. That same year, he also financed the donation of prosthetics in Ecuador, benefiting people with amputations who needed customized devices.

These initiatives reveal a consistent pattern: Using his digital reach to highlight social issues and channel resources toward direct solutions. However, this model is not without debate.
