Two pilots flying near Eugene, Oregon, reported seeing strange and fast-moving lights in the sky on the night of December 7. The event, captured in a recorded conversation with air traffic control, has sparked curiosity and concern on social media. Many people are now questioning whether these sightings are related to other unexplained events across the country.
In the 44-minute recording from LiveATC.net, the pilots described seeing red, circular lights that moved in unusual ways. The objects flew toward the ocean, then returned, changing altitudes quickly. One pilot said the lights moved at high speeds in twisting, spiral patterns.
Flight from Denver spots strange lights
The first pilot, flying a United Airlines flight with the callsign UA1596, was traveling from Denver to Eugene. The plane was over the Willamette National Forest when the sighting happened. The pilot asked air traffic control if there was any military activity nearby. The controller replied, “No, we’re not seeing anything.”
Despite this, the pilot observed several objects. “Looking straight west to Eugene. We’re seeing 3 or 4 targets… they’re at all altitudes, up and down, it’s pretty crazy,” the pilot said. The controller then told the pilot to “maneuver as necessary” to avoid the UFOs.
MEDEVAC pilot reports more alleged UFO activity in Oregon
Around 8:46 p.m., another pilot flying a medical evacuation (MEDEVAC) plane also noticed unusual lights. He asked if there was traffic nearby, about 20 to 30 miles ahead. The air traffic controller confirmed receiving similar reports and described seeing four lights moving up and down.
The MEDEVAC pilot explained, “It’s 2 to 3 o’clock from our position. Looks about 20 miles, going in circles.” According to flight-tracking site flightradar24.com, a Pilatus PC-12 air ambulance was the only other plane in the area. It was flying over the Siuslaw National Forest at the time.
At 8:53 p.m., the MEDEVAC pilot reported another sighting. He described a red light moving extremely fast, flying toward the plane and then back out to sea. The controller allowed the pilot to take any action needed to avoid the object and thanked him for the information. The pilot was later given a phone number to share any recorded footage.
Social Media adds to the mystery
A Reddit user, who claimed to have texted the number given to the pilots, shared images and videos online. The posted content included a light in the sky and unclear, dark footage taken from a plane cabin.
These UFO sightings in Oregon come after reports of mysterious drone activity in New Jersey and New York. The FBI is currently investigating drones seen near sensitive military areas. During a recent congressional hearing, lawmakers questioned why the FBI had no clear answers after weeks of investigating.
The uncertainty has led to various theories. Some people suggest the sightings could be related to secret technology, time anomalies, or even visitors from outer space. However, no official explanation has been given, leaving the mystery unsolved.
