Foreign Influencers Making Waves in Colombia

Influencers and content creators have gained increasing recognition in Colombia in recent years, even foreign ones. This phenomenon intensified in 2020, when the COVID-19 pandemic and lockdowns led many people to share content on their social media.

While some shared aspects of their daily lives, cooking recipes, or participated in viral trends, other foreign content creators began to capture the attention of the Colombian public by sharing their daily experiences in the country.

These foreign influencers managed to make a name for themselves in Colombia, expanding their influence and winning over an audience they had not previously known.

Dominic Wolf, the most well-known of Colombia’s foreign influencers

Dominic Wolf is a German influencer who arrived in Colombia in 2016 to study at the Universidad Autónoma de Bucaramanga. Since then, he has fallen in love with the country. Also known as “Dominic Colombia,” he began sharing videos on his social media showcasing the beauty and diversity of the country, earning the affection of many Colombians. Currently, Dominic has over one million followers on Instagram and TikTok. His love for Colombia led him to found a travel agency called Wolf Tour Colombia, which has attracted numerous visitors to the country. Additionally, he runs an online store where he sells Colombian t-shirts, coffee, and accessories.

Zion Hwang, a Korean singer in Colombia

Zion Hwang, originally from South Korea, moved to Colombia over five years ago with the goal of learning Spanish. He started sharing videos on his social media, attempting to speak Spanish and showcasing his daily life in the country. Hwang surprised his followers by singing music in Spanish, demonstrating a talent that many appreciated. Thanks to his charisma, he has managed to win over a broad audience, reaching over three million followers on TikTok and more than two million on Instagram. In addition to his social media activities, Hwang is involved in music and has collaborated with Colombian popular music singers, such as Jessi Uribe.

Raquel Carpe, a Spanish influencer

Raquel Carpe is a young Spanish woman who decided to move to Colombia to pursue her studies in nursing. In 2023, Carpe went viral on social media by sharing content pointing out cultural differences between Spain and Colombia, highlighting the culture shock she has experienced. With a growing online community, she has one million followers on TikTok and over 200,000 on Instagram. She currently lives in Bogota and continues to create content for her social media.

Yuka Tomita, between Japan and Medellin

Yuka Tomita is a Japanese content creator living in Colombia. She is known for her videos on TikTok, where she has over 500 thousand followers, on Instagram with over 200 thousand followers, and on YouTube, where she has more than a thousand subscribers. On her social media platforms, she shares her experiences in the country, trying local cuisine and exploring Colombian culture. Additionally, she compares the cultural differences between Japan and Colombia.

Tomita has won over Colombians by sharing videos in which she teaches some Japanese words. In addition to being a content creator, she is also a chef at a restaurant in Medellin.

Zac Morris, an American in Colombia

Zac Morris is another foreigner who has managed to win the hearts of Colombians. The young American lived in the country for over eight years, during which he shared on his social media the beautiful landscapes, culture, and gastronomy of Colombia. Morris, an adventurous person who enjoys experiencing the culture of various countries, moved to Argentina in 2021 to explore a new culture. He has over 3 million followers on TikTok and more than one million on Instagram.
