The Center for World University Rankings (CWUR) recently revealed the best universities in Colombia. Six universities from Colombia ranked among the top 2,000 in the world, in the prestigious CWUR ranking based on education, employability, faculty and research. 

It’s important to highlight that, according to the study, three Colombian universities made it into the top 1,000 in the world in 2025. However, the study emphasizes that Colombian universities need to strengthen indicators such as the quality and recognition of their faculty, as well as the academic reputation of their graduates, in order to improve their performance in future rankings. 

The best universities in Colombia according to CWUR and factors behind the pick

According to the CWUR, the following universities are the best in Colombia:

  1. Universidad Nacional (Bogota, Public) – ranked 777 globally
  2. Universidad de los Andes (Bogota, Private) – ranked 897
  3. Universidad de Antioquia (Medellin, Public) – ranked 991
  4. Pontifica Universidad Javeriana (Bogota, Private) – ranked 1,610
  5. Universidad Antonio Nariño (Bogota, Private) – ranked 1,684
  6. Universidad Industrial de Santander (Bucaramanga, Public) – ranked 1,828
