For the 2026 Grammy Awards ceremony, scheduled for Feb. 1, 2026, at the Crypto.com Arena in Los Angeles, eight Colombian singers and groups have been nominated, reflecting the country’s sonic diversity and its growing impact on the global music industry. From pop and urban music to salsa and alternative rock, Colombian artists are competing in a wide range of categories, cementing Colombia’s status as a musical powerhouse in Latin America.
Colombian singers nominated for the 2026 Grammy Awards
Among the Colombian nominees are both established stars and representatives of new generations. Karol G, one of the most influential voices in urban music, was nominated in the category of Best Latin Pop Album for Tropicoqueta and will also serve as a presenter during the gala, an additional recognition of her career. Her nomination highlights the impact of reggaeton and urban pop, as well as the growing visibility of women in the music scene.
Another iconic female figure is Shakira, nominated in the category of Songwriter of the Year, Non-Classical, for her song Soltera.
Alongside Karol G and Shakira, Paola Jara becomes one of the surprises of the night, earning a nomination in the category of Best Regional Mexican Music Album (Latin) for her album Sin Rodeos, a historic milestone for a female artist in Colombian popular music.
Male artists and groups are also strongly represented. J Balvin, one of the leading global exponents of reggaeton, was nominated in the category of Best Musica Urbana Album for his album Mixtape, recognizing his constant innovation and worldwide reach.
Feid is nominated in the same category for his album Ferxxo Vol X: Sagrado.
Traditional and avant-garde groups are also among the nominees. Grupo Niche, a symbol of salsa from Cali, will compete for Best Tropical Latin Album with Clasicos 1.0 Album, bringing Colombia’s rich salsa tradition to the international stage.
In the rock and alternative field, Aterciopelados was nominated for their album Genes Rebeldes in the category of Best Latin Rock or Alternative Album, highlighting their message of identity and cultural resistance.
Bomba Estereo, with Astropical (alongside Rawayana), also competes in the same category, blending electronic sounds with Caribbean roots that have captivated global audiences.
Cultural significance for the music industry in Colombia
The nomination of eight Colombian artists at the 2026 Grammy Awards carries a broader meaning beyond individual recognition. These achievements position Colombia as a musical epicenter in Latin America, thanks to a scene that not only produces commercial hits but also innovates and transcends cultural boundaries.
The diversity of genres among the nominees — ranging from traditional salsa to alternative rock and contemporary urban music — showcases the richness of Colombian music.
Notable global nominees: Song of the Year, Record of the Year and Album of the Year
