Brazilian club Chapecoense has officially presented a new goalkeeper jersey designed as a tribute to Colombia, commemorating the 10th anniversary of the air accident that occurred in La Unión, Antioquia, in November 2016.
The design features a predominantly yellow base, accompanied by blue and red details on the collar and sleeves, directly referencing the colors of the Colombian flag. Small green accents, representing Chapecoense’s traditional color, complete the jersey, which will be worn by the goalkeepers throughout the 2026 season of the Brasileirao Serie A. The club introduced this kit under the motto “Forever,” a slogan that reflects the spirit of remembrance and gratitude they wish to preserve.

This gesture adds to another tribute made recently by the club. In December 2025, Chapecoense unveiled a special jersey honoring Atletico Nacional, designed with the colors and visual elements characteristic of the Colombian team. That kit not only celebrated the sporting relationship between the two clubs but also formed part of a series of commemorative acts marking the 10th anniversary of the accident.
The homage to Atletico Nacional carries deep significance. In 2016, the Colombian club carried out one of the most memorable gestures in football history by requesting that Chapecoense be declared champion of the Copa Sudamericana—an act of solidarity that earned global admiration. Since then, the relationship between the two teams has transcended sports, becoming a symbol of fraternity and humanity.
A decade of shared memory and gratitude
The new jersey dedicated to Colombia not only evokes the national colors but also highlights the solidarity that the country extended to the Brazilian club during its darkest moments. The Colombian people joined the tributes, offered institutional and social support, and continue to keep the memory of the victims alive.
