Colombia’s National Team now has the airplane that will accompany it on its journey to the 2026 World Cup, which will be held in the United States, Mexico, and Canada. Avianca, the official airline of the Tricolor, unveiled the airplane that will be used both by the team and by fans traveling to the tournament’s host cities.
It is an Airbus A320 specially decorated with the national colors and a design created to reinforce Colombian identity during one of the most important sporting events in the world.
The presentation marks a new chapter in the partnership between the Colombian Football Federation (FCF) and Avianca, which has supported the national teams’ international travel for several years. However, this is the first time the airline has adapted two airplanes with an official image dedicated exclusively to the World Cup, making the announcement a milestone for Colombian sports and the aviation industry.
Design of the official Colombia National Team airplane for the 2026 World Cup
The official airplane of Colombia’s National Team is an Airbus A320 painted in the yellow, blue, and red of the national flag. The sides feature the inscription “Aerolinea oficial de las selecciones Colombia” (“Official Airline of the Colombia National Teams”), which will accompany every flight to the World Cup host cities.
It also includes motivational details, such as the word “GOL,” where each window represents one of the letters “O.” According to the airline, the design aims to convey the pride of representing the country and symbolically accompany the Tricolor in its goal of making history in 2026.
The A320 model was selected for its operational efficiency and its capacity to cover international routes with comfort for the delegation led by Nestor Lorenzo. The airplane will be used not only for transporting the team but also for special flights intended for fans, one of the largest and most passionate supporter groups on the continent.
A symbol of unity ahead of a historic World Cup
The 2026 World Cup will be the first in history to be hosted by three countries and to feature 48 national teams. Colombia will compete in Group K, where it will play three decisive matches in the first round.
The debut will take place on June 17 in Mexico City against Uzbekistan.
The second match is scheduled for June 23 in Guadalajara, where Colombia will face the winner of the playoff, the Democratic Republic of Congo — a key match for securing points before the final group stage game.
The third and most challenging matchup will be Colombia vs. Portugal, on June 27 in Miami, against a European squad led by a new generation of stars and considered one of the strong contenders, and legend Cristiano Ronaldo for the title.
This calendar represents a significant challenge for Colombia, which approaches the tournament with high expectations following a strong qualifying campaign and a renewed roster shaped by the coaching staff.
The unveiling of the official airplane not only symbolically accompanies the World Cup journey but also strengthens national identity and projects a positive image of Colombia to millions of international football fans.
