Frisby Colombia has announced new legal measures in its ongoing battle against its ‘counterpart’ in Spain. Earlier this year it was revealed that a Spanish company which calls itself ‘Frisby España’ was found to use the Colombian brand’s name, logo, and other iconic brand features without consent.

Despite a ruling in Europe saying that Frisby Spain SL is the only project “registered, operational, and legally authorized to represent and develop the Frisby brand in Europe,” Frisby Colombia has now accused them of unlawful use of its brand.

Frisby Colombia hired an international law firm to represent them in the ongoing case

Frisby Colombia’s president, Liliana Restrepo announced on May 30th that the popular chicken restaurant had hired the international law firm GARRIGUES to represent them in this case. The firm, she said, is “specialized in all legal service areas, and is based in 12 countries in 4 different continents.”

During the press conference Restrepo also said, “On behalf of myself and the more than 5,600 team members who make up Frisby S.A. BIC, we acknowledge and thank the many expressions of support and solidarity that we continue to receive from companies, industry groups, customers, artists, athletes, and an entire country that has walked with us throughout these 48 years of history.”

Frisby, which was created in Pereira 48 years ago, currently has over 280 restaurants in Colombia, in 60 different municipalities. Over its almost 50 years of history, it has won the love of Colombians as one of their go-to chicken restaurants.

Restrepo says GARRIGUES will work hard to defend our rights as a brand

President Restrepo highlighted that with Frisby trusts GARRIGUES will work very hard to defend their rights over their brand and image.

“We fully trust in the legal actions that European legislation allows us to pursue, and we will continue down this path with rigor and responsibility,” she said.

It is also worth saying that the ongoing legal process is under strict confidenciality, and according to Restrepo, more details will be revealed when “the timing is right”.
