Bogota’s El Dorado International Airport has once again been recognized as the Best Airport in South America at the 2026 Skytrax World Airport Awards, a distinction that reinforces its position as the region’s leading air terminal. The announcement was made on April 8, 2026, marking the eighth consecutive time that the Colombian airport has received this honor.
The Skytrax Awards, often referred to as the “Oscars of aviation,” are based on millions of surveys completed by passengers around the world, making the recognition a direct reflection of the real traveler experience. The organization evaluates more than 550 airports, rating them on aspects ranging from operational efficiency to service quality and the comfort of their facilities.

El Dorado, the best airport in South America according to Skytrax
El Dorado’s latest victory stems from its strong performance in key areas such as customer service quality, efficiency in security and immigration processes, the comfort of its facilities, and its extensive commercial and dining offerings for both domestic and international travelers. Skytrax highlighted that the Bogotá terminal has maintained high standards of excellence, remaining competitive against airports in countries with significant air traffic like Brazil, Chile, and Peru.
Beyond this main award, El Dorado has accumulated multiple international recognitions in the Skytrax rankings, consolidating its reputation as one of the top air hubs in Latin America. The airport has won the title of Best Airport in South America eight consecutive times (2019–2026), becoming the only terminal in the region to achieve such a streak.
It has also appeared in the global Top 50 airports for passenger experience, reflecting its high levels of service, modern infrastructure, and operational efficiency.
Other distinctions include acknowledgments from OAG and Cirium for punctuality and connectivity, as well as sustainability awards for initiatives focused on energy efficiency and carbon footprint reduction. Several of its VIP lounges have also been recognized internationally for comfort, design, and service quality.
El Dorado’s continued success is driven by modern infrastructure upgrades, terminal expansions, improved boarding areas, and the integration of technologies that streamline airport procedures. These efforts have strengthened Bogotá’s position as a key aviation hub, boosting connectivity, tourism, and international perception of Colombia.
