According to Colombian Karen Agudelo Londoño, she was able to get a US Visa in just four days using ChatGPT. According to a video she posted on TikTok, she did her due diligence by herself and with ChatGPT. She did not use any intermediaries.
Londoño claims she used the AI chatbot to prepare herself for the interview at the US embassy. She explained that “I went to the embassy’s website and filled out a form (DS-160). I did it all by myself and without anyone’s help. I started watching a lot of videos on TikTok and looked up some on YouTube about how to fill out that form… and I completed it by answering truthfully.”
Colombian claims mock interview with ChatGPT allowed her to get US Visa
The process to get a Visa appointment in Colombia can be long, as most appointments are set for almost a year from now. In the TikTok video, Agudelo explained that she took the picture for the Visa herself, too. She even went as far as to claim that she had not showered when she took the picture.
She then claims that after paying the consular fees, her appointment was set for a year from now. In the video, she said, “Let’s wait, there’s no rush, and I’ll see if I can move it up, because I had seen cases of many people managing to reschedule theirs earlier. On Monday, I went on the website to see if I could reschedule the appointment, and one popped up for April 9th… just three days later.”
After doing this, Agudelo explained she needed an appointment with the US embassy to get her fingerprints taken, so she kept on trying to set the appointment on the same day and was eventually successful in doing so. “The fingerprint appointment didn’t show up as being so soon, so I kept trying on the website for an hour until I managed to get both appointments on the same day. I bought tickets for Tuesday and traveled because my appointment was on Wednesday,” she explained.
The story reflects a growing trend: young people, particularly in Colombia and Latin America, are turning to platforms like TikTok, YouTube, and even ChatGPT for practical solutions and research—whether for news or bureaucratic challenges.
