“La Casa de los Famosos” is a successful reality show broadcast in Mexico, Argentina, Spain, and more recently, Colombia, with its first edition in February 2024.

La Casa de los Famosos Colombia is a live entertainment experience that captures the daily lives and challenges of various Colombian celebrities. In this world-renowned format, the celebrities are filmed 24 hours a day, and each night a summary of their daily experiences is broadcast on the RCN channel. Additionally, viewers can follow the live 24-hour broadcast through the Vix platform.

Colombia’s premier reality show

In this first edition of La Casa de los Famosos Colombia featured 22 participants, including actors, singers, comedians, and influencers, facing various challenges while living together, generating moments of drama, emotion, and entertainment.

The participants must try to pass through the different daily challenges to avoid elimination, and increase their chances of winning US$100,000 (400 billion COP), a very important sum in Colombia.

There are team challenges, promoting collaboration and strategy, while parties allow the celebrities to relax and strengthen relationships. The salvation challenges give the nominees a last chance to avoid elimination, culminating in exciting weekly galas where the audience decides through online voting who leaves the house.

The way the participants face these challenges influence their stay in the program. Each week, a budget competition is held to determine the resources available, and a nomination day is held where the contestants vote to decide who might be eliminated, testing alliances and strategies. The competition’s winner will be announced next Monday, June 17.

A controversy led the program to success

Renowned Colombian actress Nataly Umaña, one of the participants, had been married to actor Alejandro Estrada for 12 years. During the program, the actress had a romance with another participant, Panamanian actor and singer Miguel Melfi. This romance sparked a major controversy, resulting in higher ratings for the show.

The organizers of the reality show brought Umaña’s husband into the house during an activity called “Frozen,” where all participants had to remain motionless while a family member entered and approached one of the celebrities, who couldn’t move or respond.

When Estrada entered, it created a tense moment in the house. He addressed his partner, ended the relationship on national television, and returned the wedding ring to the actress, who couldn’t react due to the “Frozen” activity.

The situation sparked various opinions among the audience. Many believe the infidelity was staged to gain more visibility for the program, while others think it actually happened. Regardless, the controversy generated significant interest among the public, resulting in high viewership for the first edition of the program in Colombia.

Thanks to her charisma, authenticity, and connection with the audience through videos about relationships and entertainment, she secured the highest percentage of votes in the final, earning first place and a prize of approximately $103,000 USD (400 million Colombian pesos).

In the grand finale, Sevillano shared the stage with Julián Trujillo, who finished in second place. Meanwhile, Panamanian singer Miguel Melfi took third place, and Sebastián González ended in fourth position.
